Obituary for Mark "Snook" Vandercook

Almost 40 years ago the universe introduced two soul mates. Some may call it luck, serendipity, chance or fate when Mark Edward Vandercook and Judy Fields met and it changed both of their lives in a positive and powerful way. Two people with no clear direction individually became one and that happen stance meeting united them for a lifetime. Mark “Snook” Vandercook, 57, of Florence grew weary following a four year battle with pancreatic cancer and passed peacefully into a new day on Sunday May, 7, 2017 at Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Shawn, Florence, brothers Russ Vandercook, St. Joe, MI, Dan (Stacey) Vandercook, Toledo, OH, Ron Vandercook, Temperance, MI and Dennis (Pam) Vandercook, Ormond Beach, FL and many friends. Mark was a sports fanatic who supported any team from Michigan especially the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Red Wings and the New England Patriots with their star Tom Brady, a Michigan graduate. He may be remembered by his coworkers as a forklift driver at Alpla Inc. and a river crane operator at Newport Steel. Judy described him as selfless and charitable and their home had an open door policy for those in need. Judy and Shawn invite you to help them celebrate Mark’s life on Friday May 12, 2017 from 2-4:00 PM at Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Florence with a memorial ceremony to begin at 4:00 PM.
