Bert Mike Byrd

Bert Mitchell “Mike” Byrd, 71, Crittenden passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Premier Estates of Three Rivers in Cincinnati. Mike was born in Oneida, Tennessee to James Arvle and Georgia Ellen Byrd. He proudly defended his country serving 28 years active duty in the United States Navy before retiring. Mike was preceded in death by his daughter Kristi Lynn Byrd, brothers David “Rick” and Johnny Byrd, his parents and grandson Tyler G. Wilson. He was a member of American Legion Post 4 in Florence and American Legion Post 277 in Walton. Mike loved the outdoors and fishing with his grandchildren. He became a truck driver after retiring from the Navy which allowed him to enjoy his passion for traveling. Mike is survived by his sons James William (Charity) Byrd, Woodland, CA, Michael Byrd, Independence, David Wayne (Melanie) Maggard, Flagstaff, AZ and Earl Robert “Bobby” Maggard, Covington, sisters JoAnn (Danny) Barnard, Union, Jean Leonard, Oahu, HI, Nancy (Hershell) Freeman, Verona, 9 gandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Military honors will be presented by the Northern Kentucky Honor Guard. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at Post 4, 8385 Highway 42 in Florence Friday, February 9, 2018 at 5 PM for those who wish to join and share their stories.
