Carol Ann Riley

July 27, 1948 — August 19, 2024

Carol Ann (Shively) Riley, a remarkable woman known for her vivacious spirit and generous heart, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on July 27, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Carol's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience.

Carol had a way of making a lasting impression, whether through her quick wit or her readiness to speak her mind. Her presence was a source of strength and joy to her family and friends.

A true matriarch, Carol's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She is survived by her devoted son, George, and his wife, Teresa Riley; her caring sister, Gayle, and her husband, Ken Moyer; and her brothers Ken Shively with his wife Tawnya, and Jerry Shively with his wife Barb. Carol's legacy continues through her four adored grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Felicity, Peyton who will miss her deeply. Her special friends, Albert, Sylvia, Maria, Alberto, Jennifer, Amanda, and Crystal will forever cherish the memories of the times spent with Carol. Predeceased by her beloved husband John and her parents, Norman and Helen Shively, Carol's reunion with them is a comforting thought to all who loved her.

Carol's approach to life was simple: be direct, be giving, and above all, protect and love your family fiercely. She was the embodiment of strength, a survivor who faced life's challenges head-on, always with a sense of humor and unwavering resolve. Her ability to be both loving and formidable earned her the respect and admiration of those around her.

An exceptional cook, Carol's beans and cornbread were legendary, and her family gatherings were always filled with warmth and delicious aromas. Her culinary skills were just one of the many ways she expressed her love for those around her. Carol's comfort foods were a hug to the soul, and her kitchen was the heart of her home.

A woman of simple pleasures, Carol found joy in activities like word searches and tuning into her favorite shows on the Game Show Network or laughing along with episodes of the Andy Griffith Show. Her love for bingo was unmatched, and her competitive spirit was always in good humor. Carol never turned down an opportunity to savor Gold Star Chili or indulge in a Big Mac Sandwich, embracing the simple delights that life had to offer.

Carol's companionship extended to her cherished chihuahua dogs, who were a constant source of happiness and companionship. She never met a stranger, and her ability to connect with people was one of her most extraordinary gifts.

As we say goodbye to Carol Ann (Shively) Riley, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. Her memory will be treasured, her stories retold, and her spirit will continue to inspire. She has left us with a blueprint for living life with authenticity, generosity, and an unyielding love for family.
