Charles "Chuck" Walz, 86, a cherished soul known for his boundless generosity and infectious humor, passed away on December 14, 2024, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on June 20, 1938, in Dayton, Kentucky, to Mabel and Charles Walz, Chuck was a beacon of light and friendship to all who knew him. His parents and beloved wife of 29 years, Bonnie "Peach" Walz, preceded him in death.
Chuck's life was marked by a steadfast devotion to his family, his country, and his community. A proud graduate of Dayton High School's class of 1958, he went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a 28-year career as a boiler and equipment operator for Procter & Gamble, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie.
Throughout his life, Chuck was actively involved in various organizations, including the American Legion Post 203 in Covington, Kentucky, the Moose Lodge 1469 in Covington, and the Moose Lodges in Naples and Golden Gate, Florida. He was also a member of the Amvets in Naples, Florida. These memberships were a testament to his commitment to fellowship and service.
Chuck's enthusiasm for life was evident in his love for KY Wildcat basketball and Cincinnati Bengals football, which he followed with fervent passion. He relished golf outings with his buddies and cherished the moments spent traveling and dancing to the oldies with his "Peach." His nights out at the casino with the family and his excursions to "Wally World" and "Sammie Wammies" with his son-in-law Dave were filled with laughter and friendship. Chuck's ability to steal the show on the dance floor, especially to the tune of "Proud Mary," was legendary among his friends and family.
Described as the life of the party, Chuck's wit and good sense of humor never failed to light up a room. He was a devoted father to his loving daughters, Linda Walls, Michelle Walz, and a father figure to David Walls, whom he considered like a son. His stepson Elliott Grigson, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren were the joys of his life, and he bestowed upon them the same love and generosity that he shared with everyone he met.
His lifelong best friend, Rodger Tieman, along with countless others, will fondly remember Chuck for his friendly nature and the loyalty that made him a true friend. To know Chuck was indeed to love him.
