David Elwood Jones

DAVID ELWOOD JONES WAS A SOLDIER! His last battle, against cancer, ended on October 10, 2018 in Bluffton, South Carolina while returning home to Kentucky holding the hand of his beloved daughter Carmen. Dave served his country as a career infantry non-commissioned officer in the United States Army, 1954 - 1974. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for his bravery and valor while serving in Vietnam. He was a proud member of the American Legion Boone Post 4 Honor Guard, Florence KY, Ralph Fulton VFW Post 6423, Erlanger KY, VFW 9986, Astor FL, and American Legion Post 6, Deland FL. Dave is survived by his daughters Carmen (Don) Schmidt-Phillips, Walton and Beverli (Chris) Pemberton, Erlanger, his sons Peter (Darlene Leuenberger) Schmidt, Florence and David E Jones Jr, Elsmere, sister Beverly Ketron, Florence, brothers Elmer (Shirley) Ketron, Jr., Walton, Jerold Ketron, Warsaw and Terry Ketron, Erlanger, the mother of his children Karin Jones, three grandchildren Krystal (Dan) Tillett, Christopher Pemberton, Jr., and Mikala Pemberton and four great grandchildren Mikenzleigh, Mazleigh, Maximus “MJ”, Xander, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Fannie Ketron and stepfather Elmer Ketron. Dave’s family invites you to join them on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 10:00AM-12:00PM for a visitation at Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 7816 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042. A funeral ceremony will follow immediately after the visitation at 12:00PM. Interment, with full Military Honors conducted by the Northern Kentucky Honor Guard, will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown KY at 2:00PM. A celebration of his life will follow at the American Legion Boone Post 4, 8385 US Highway 42, Florence KY.
