Dolores Darling Henson, 96 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her home in Florence. Described by her Granddaughter, Katie, Dolores was "a badass woman, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and wife. She loved her family immensely and taught us all how to be kind, compassionate humans. She was a child of the depression, a war time wife, single mother, a supervisor before women could be supervisors, and a trailblazer in so many aspects of her life. She would be so happy to know that her family has spent the last days of her life together, enjoying the amazing memories we have of her." She dedicated her life to the service of others. Nowhere is that better exemplified than her nearly 30 years as a volunteer with Be Concerned of Northern Kentucky. Watch the tribute to Dolores from 2015, honored by Be Con as their "Heart of Be Concerned" Volunteer of the Year. You'll see a glimpse into her heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rw9YsOMzMU&feature=emb=share&f bclid=lwAR2gf8xl0ps-r9wYp77kB-1Pa3OcxgAPx0GQMBUfU0wdpFPVp1o At2pgiKk She was a founding member of the St. Paul's Widows Club and enjoyed travel. Dolores taught her children to be independent, free thinkers with a zest for life and adventure. She gave them the tools, inspiration and support they needed to fly free and achieve their goals. She was sassy before it was cool. She was accepting before it was acceptable. She was tolerant before tolerance was in style. It was how she was raised and she lived those ideals every day of her life. She gave every person she met a smile, regardless of whether they deserved it or not. Her son Chuck recalls her love for her Husband, John... "My Dad was her one true love. He died when I was in college and Mom never dated or showed interest in another man in the 30 plus years since. That's a love we can only hope to find. Also, she never swore. Well, rarely. Mom knew exactly how to use any off color word to get her point across. Let me just say that once she told me to get my "act" together...only that wasn't the word she used. YES MA'AM!" There will never be another like her. A classic woman, born as part of the Greatest Generation Ever. If you were fortunate enough to know Dolores, you know that to be true. She is survived by her daughter Clara (John) Wooten, sons Frank and Chuck Henson, brother Frank (Carol) Darling, granddaughter Kathryn (Andrew) Bryant and her many nieces and nephews. Dolores is predeceased by her beloved husband John William Henson, sisters Evelyn Kaiser, Kathleen Darling and Rita Seiler and her stepson John Robert Henson.
