Edward Paul Schmitt

Edward Paul Schmitt was born in Cincinnati to Edward and Helen (Volz) Schmitt. He grew up with his brother Steven (Carol) Schmitt, Hamilton, Ohio and his sister Sylvia Meyer, Mt. Healthy, Ohio. In the late 1980’s Ed met Joyce Ann Allender, a single mother with four young daughters Stacie (Mark) Chaildin, Mesa, AZ, Tammi (Mike) Brock, Erlanger, Kellie (Niel) Toll, Florence, and Michelle Allender, Erlanger. Their relationship blossomed and Ed, who had no children of his own, had now become a father to four young girls. For the next 30 years he and Joyce raised their family which eventually grew to include 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Ed cherished his grandchildren and they all loved their Grandpa. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an engineer for CSX Railroad until his retirement. Ed had a passion for flying and was a member of The Flying Knights. On Tuesday February 28, 2017 Ed filed his final flight plan departing Highlandspring of Ft. Thomas. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. No services are planned at this time and his family honored his request to be cremated.
