Fayne S. Smith (nee Stetler), age 90 of Union, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Williamstown, Kentucky. Fayne was born in Miami, Florida on September 19, 1925. She grew up in Ludlow, Kentucky where she graduated from Ludlow High School in 1943 and met the love of her life, husband Daniel (Dan) F. Smith. While raising their four children in Williamsburg, Ohio, she helped Dan, a pharmacist, operate his two drug stores. There, she developed an interest and expertise in cosmetics and fragrances. They later opened several more Cincinnati store locations and launched a national catalog business of gifts and collectibles. In her retirement, Fayne enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with Dan. She will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit and loving devotion to family and friends. Fayne is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dan; daughter Deborah (Tom) Duckworth, Crestwood, KY and sons Dennis Smith, Chicago, Donald (Rhonda) Smith, Park Hills, KY and David (Kathy) Smith, Columbus, OH; sister Rae Sharon Herbst, Cincinnati; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her family honored her wishes to donate her body to the University of Cincinnati, Department of Medical Education. A private Memorial Mass for family only will be performed as a testimony of her faith at St. Timothy Parish, 10272 US 42 Union KY 41091 where she was a long time parishioner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/index.
