Frederick Augustus Schilling Jr. 88 passed away April 4,2020. Born in Philadelphia PA in 1931 to Frederick A. And E. Hope Schilling, Frederick spent his childhood in Walla Walla and Kennewick WA, graduating from high school in Olympia WA. He graduated from Washington State University in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in Science. He was in the army during the Korean War and served in Germany as a terrain intelligence analyst. He earned a PHD in geology from Stanford in 1962. His career in geology spanned 50 years and took him to a wide variety of locations in the United States. From the north slope of Alaska to the hills of Kentucky, from the mesa country of New Mexico to the palm trees of California he had an interesting life. He was a member of the Explorers Club, the Adventurers Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Mason’s Lodge. Frederick is survived by his daughter Jennifer Geer(Derek) and his son Frederick Christopher Schilling(Eileen) and his sisters Marilyn Payne and Vivian Nelson(Tom). He was preceded in death by his former spouse and mother of his children Ardis Ione Schilling and his beloved sister Jocelyn Cox(Bill). Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Ventura CA at a later date to be determined due to the COVID19 pandemic.
