James Richard Fogle, Jr., a devoted family man, proud veteran, and passionate motorcyclist, passed away suddenly at his residence in Florence, Kentucky, on June 7, 2026. Born on October 14, 1964, in Covington, Kentucky, James lived a life marked by dedication—to his country, his career, and above all, his beloved family.
James served honorably in the Army National Guard before continuing his military commitment in the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm. His service exemplified his deep patriotism and commitment to protecting the freedoms cherished by all.
Following his military career, James applied his strong work ethic to the trucking industry, where he worked as a truck driver for many years. He was employed by Maclean Trucking and later Ryder, building a reputation as a dependable and skilled professional.
Beyond his career, James’s passions brought vibrancy to his life. A proud member of the Harley Davidson High Stakes Chapter in Florence, he embraced the camaraderie and freedom symbolized by riding. He found joy in cooking and was devoted to listening to his favorite music—AC/DC, Queen, and classic oldies—which provided a soundtrack to treasured moments. His evenings were often spent watching classic movies and crime television shows such as NCIS, JAG, and Criminal Minds..
James’s greatest love was his family. He treasured his children and grandchildren, offering them unwavering love and affection. Among those grieving his loss are his children: Shane Tomes, Tyler Fogle, Devin Fogle, Lacey Nash and her husband Josh, Carlie Fogle, Kailee Pittenger, William Pittenger, and Michelle Himes with her husband Kevin. He was a proud grandfather to Silas and Tobias Tomes, Joel and Joshua Fogle, and Amelia Nash. James is also mourned by his mother, Joyce Fogle; sister, Margie Moermond; brother, Jeff Fogle, and his wife Melissa; as well as his son James Richard Fogle, III, who is deeply saddened by this loss. His faithful dog, Rusty, was a cherished companion.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Richard Fogle, Sr.; brother-in-law Kevin Moermond; and grandmother, Margaret Hadden. Their memories remain integral to his story and the family’s enduring legacy.
