Joann Dye (née Morris), born August 8, 1940 in the rolling hills of Leslie County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home in Florence, Kentucky on August 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Throughout her 86 years, Joann graced the lives of those around her with steadfast love, generosity, and unwavering strength.
Joann’s journey began in a close-knit family, the daughter of Cash and Pauline Morris, whose memory she cherished all her life. She was the sister of Bert Morris (Becky), who survives her, and the late Bobby Joe Morris, whose loss she mourned throughout the years. Joann grew up with a deep sense of family values, which continued to anchor her through the many seasons of her life.
Joann was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Vertis Dye, who preceded her in death. Their marriage was marked by companionship and mutual devotion, providing a loving home for their children and caring deeply for their extended family. She was a nurturing mother to her children: her son Michael Faulkner and daughter Paula Sullivan (Billy Adams), who survive her, and her late daughter Carolyn Wisdom and late son David Dye, both held in her heart every day. As a stepmother, Joann welcomed Ronnie Dye and Vicki Cioffi into her family, embracing them with the same warm spirit that defined her.
Her role as a grandmother gave her great joy and pride. She leaves treasured memories with her grandchildren: Kyle Fitzenberger, Josh Wisdom, Christian Wisdom, and Brittany Dye. The loss of her grandson David Vertis Lee Dye was a sorrow she carried with grace and resilience.
Joann’s extended family enriched her life as well. Many nieces and nephews also meant the world to Joann, and she took great delight in nurturing relationships across generations.
While many milestones shaped Joann’s path, it was her everyday kindness, strength, and compassion that truly defined her. None who met her could forget her encouraging words, her gracious hospitality, or her ability to offer comfort in difficult times. Through hardships and joys alike, Joann remained a steadfast anchor for her loved ones, always lending a listening ear or a helping hand.
The family invites all who knew and loved Joann to join in honoring her life. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 7816 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3227 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, KY at 1:30 p.m.
Joann’s legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength will remain with her family and friends forever. Though she is no longer by our side, the impact of her kindness and the example she set will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
