Joe Robert Holguin, 84, filed his final flight plan on Friday, July 5, 2019 and flew peacefully into the afternoon sunlight. He took off from the home he shared with his daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Chris Pingel. Joe may be remembered as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 through 1958. Joe left behind his daughters Terri (Scott) Morgan, Tucson, AZ, Valerie (Chris) Pingel, Florence, KY and Marla (Scott) McNeal, Washington Courthouse, OH, sisters Mary Little, Glendale, AZ, Molly Romero, Denver, CO and Josephine Hertzer, Parker, CO, brothers Zefe (Prudy) Holguin, Denver, CO and Danny (Donna) Holguin, Ft. Morgan, CO and his grandchildren Shawn Fridley, Haley Cox and Emily McNeal. Joe was also a full-time farmer and enjoyed piloting his own airplane. He proudly cruised the countryside to unwind on his turquoise, multi-colored Harley Davidson motorcycle. Valerie and Chris described him fondly as very ornery and brutally honest. Joe was born in Weldona, Colorado to his parents Augustine and Tillie (Duran) Holguin who both preceded him in death as did his brother Henry Holguin. Joe Holguin’s body will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown with military honors. His spirit will touch down in parts unknown to begin a whole new adventure.
