Johnny Ray Neaves (John), 52, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2024, a man known for his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and adventurous spirit. Born on March 31, 1971, in Covington, Kentucky, John's life was a testament to the joy and passion he found in every day.

John's legacy is carried on through his cherished family. He was a loving father to his daughters, Danielle Neaves and Natalie Melgard, and to his sons, Johnny Neaves, Jr. and Donnie Milburn. He adored and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Logan, and Isaiah. John was the beloved son of Carol Byrd and was graciously supported by his siblings, Kimberly Riddell, Terry Begley, Don Neaves, Brian Byrd, Shannon Huth, Debbie Becker, and Bryan Cooper. His life was further enriched by the love and companionship of his fiancée, Mary Lewis. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, James Byrd, and his siblings, Gary (Jakey) Huth, Chris Huth, and DeeDee Neaves.

A true entrepreneur, John was the proud owner of Neaves Lawn Care, where he dedicated himself to providing exceptional service.

John was a passionate race car driver at Florence Speedway. His love for the sport was infectious, and he will be remembered for the excitement and enthusiasm he brought to the track. John's adventurous spirit was not only evident in his racing but also in the way he approached life. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, both brought him so much joy.

John's presence could light up a room. He had the rare ability to make everyone feel like a friend, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John's journey on this earth may have ended, but the impact he made on the hearts of his family, friends, and community will endure for generations to come.


A Celebration of Life will be held on April 6th, 2024 at Grant County Park Barn. (time TBD)
