Johnny Ray Miller

May 10, 1946 — October 21, 2024

Johnny Ray Miller, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, in Ft. Thomas, KY, after a valiant battle with illness. Born on May 10, 1946 in the serene Black Mountain, KY, Johnny grew up to be a man of strength, resilience, and boundless love, traits that would define his 55 years of marriage to his beloved wife and best friend, Geraldine "Geri" Burke Miller.

Johnny's dedication to his family was unwavering. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his daughter, Lisa Miller Stamper, and son-in-law Steve "Luke" Stamper, as well as his adored granddaughter, Melanie Stamper. He was a guiding light to his sisters Mary, Jane, Ann, and Bette. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Docia Miller, his sisters Della and Elsie, and brothers David, Luke, and Tom. His presence as a family pillar will be profoundly missed.

Professionally, Johnny was known for his expertise as a skilled mechanic. His career spanned years of dedicated service in Taylor Mill, KY, and at Lasco in Florence, KY, where his work was not just a job but a testament to his passion for fixing things and helping others. Johnny's hands were rarely still, as he was often found tinkering with engines, ensuring that every car he touched ran smoothly.

Outside of work, he was a man who found joy in life's simplest pleasures. John's love for the outdoors was evident in his meticulous care for his lawn and the hours he spent sitting on his front porch and watching hummingbirds fly around. His love for a good scratch-off lottery ticket was matched only by the excitement and generosity he showed when sharing his winnings with those around him.

Those who knew Johnny can attest to his loving and generous nature. He was a friend to everyone he met, always ready with a smile, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement. His strong will to survive was an inspiration to all, demonstrating that even in the face of adversity, one's spirit can remain unbroken.

John's legacy is not only in the engines he brought back to life or the grass he kept so green but in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness and warmth. He was a man who gave of himself freely and loved without reservation.

As we bid farewell to Johnny Ray Miller, we celebrate the life of a man who was the embodiment of love and generosity. His spirit will continue to live on in the stories shared by friends, the laughter of his family, and the countless lives he enriched.

Rest in peace, Johnny. Your journey here has ended, but your story will continue to be told with admiration and love. Your family and friends will forever cherish the time spent with you and will hold onto the lessons of kindness and perseverance you imparted.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If anyone would like to send a note or card to our family, please send it to Lisa Miller Stamper, 10598 Locust Pike, Ryland Heights, KY 41015.
