Larry Gene Keeton

February 20, 1950 — March 9, 2025

Larry Gene Keeton, known affectionately as "Bird" by those closest to him, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 75 in Erlanger, KY. Born on February 20, 1950, in Covington, KY, Larry was a man whose presence was as warm and inviting as his smile.

Larry proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps, a period of his life that instilled in him the virtues of courage and loyalty that he carried throughout his days. After his service, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as preparing meals as a cook at Frisch's Big Boy restaurant, where his hearty laughter often echoed through the kitchen.

A loving husband to Jennifer Keeton, Larry was a pillar of strength and support in their shared life. He was a devoted son to his mother, Christine Keeton, and was preceded in death by his father, Milford Keeton, as well as his siblings, Robert Keeton, John Allen, Faye Chaffin, and Dolores Deininger. Larry's legacy continues through his sons, Jeffrey and Michael Keeton; his step-daughters, Sherry Topicz and Julie Smallwood; his cherished grandchildren; and his adored great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.

Larry's love for sports was a lifelong passion. He was an ardent fan of the University of Kentucky Basketball and never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Cincinnati Reds. His enthusiasm for the game was contagious, and many fond memories were made gathered around the television with family and friends, sharing in the highs and lows of each season.

As a faithful and God-fearing man, Larry's wisdom and guidance were sought by many. His involvement with the Florence Elks Lodge was a testament to his commitment to community and fellowship. Larry's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing comfort and solace to him and those he loved.

Described by those who knew him as loving, wise, and courageous, Larry's impact on the world was as profound as it was gentle. His ability to listen, truly listen, and offer sage advice was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a beacon of light in the lives of his family and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Larry's life was one of service, both to his country and to his loved ones. He embodied the virtues of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. His legacy is not only in the lives he touched but also in the love he shared freely and without reservation.

As we say goodbye to Larry Gene Keeton, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by the love he gave and the love he received. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the laughter that will continue to resonate in his honor.

In the quiet moments, we will remember Larry, our beloved "Bird," for the strength he showed us, the wisdom he imparted, and the immense love he bestowed upon us all. His spirit will soar high, free, and eternal in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Larry, until we meet again.
