Leo Parrs, 93, Florence passed away on June 21, 2018. Leo was a husband, father, son and hell of a tennis player. Born in 1924 to Russian immigrants Sophie and Eli Parshotsky, in the heart south Bronx, NYC. He grew up loving kosher pickles, vita herring and kielbasa smothered in sauerkraut. At the age of 18, Leo joined the US Navy and became a parachute rigger, thanks to his smarts and tenacity, he soon was selected for the V12 Navy Officer’s Training and studied at New Your University, Richmond University and Princeton where he played football as a true Leatherhead. After faithfully serving in WWII, he headed back to NYC and one magical night convinced a reluctant Jane Upton to dance with him. Thankfully she gave in and a match was made in heaven. Jane and Leo were married in 1956 and moved to a dirt road on a hill on Long Island and raised three children. Skiing, fishing and boating were the family activities he loved most. With deep love and gratitude, his children, grandchildren and family will miss him dearly. The all agree, Leo was one of a kind. Leo passed away peacefully in his home with his children after a long and happy life. He is preceded by his wife Jane, and is survived by his children Bobby, Carolyn and Lorraine, son-in-law Rob, and grandchildren Zack, Joey, Joelle and Chris.
