Raymond Edward Kerl passed away on the afternoon of August 20 at the age of 88 years old. Raymond was born in Covington, KY to the late Hilda (nee Elsener) Kerl and Paul Kerl.
He served as an engine mechanic on B-52 airplanes in the US Air Force, stationed at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Afterward, Raymond worked as a master auto mechanic in innumerable repair shops, service stations, garages, and driveways throughout Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. A dedicated supporter of young people, he was active for more than two decades with Troop 8 of the Boy Scouts of America in Independence, KY as well as the burgeoning Independence Soccer Club of the 1980s and ’90s.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy (nee Luck) Kerl; his sisters Dorothy Goebel, Rose-Laughlin-Goebel, JoAnn Wilke; and his brothers Bobby Kerl and William Kerl.
Raymond is survived by his sisters Patsy Leveridge, Betty Boese, and Pauline Stambaugh; his two sons Eric (Rachel) and Jason (Elizabeth); and four grandchildren; Alexus, Skylur, Jaxson, and Waylon.
Cemetery memorial services are planned for Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, KY on Friday, August 28, at 11:00am.
