Robert Cyril Northcutt

August 29, 1938 — August 26, 2015

Serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America may be described as a duty, a responsibility, an honor or a sacrifice that must be undertaken to ensure that the United States remains the greatest country in the world. The freedoms every living being, within and outside our borders, take for granted were and still are being kept safe by the men and women fighting every day to protect. On August 26, 2015 Robert Cyril Northcutt Jr. of Florence passed from this life at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Robert was born in Covington and served with honor two tours in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps. He was 76 years old when he died and had no living relatives in this area. Robert held a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, although he taught for a while Robert chose cab driving as his career. Pastor Gary Reynolds, Main Street Baptist Church in Florence, met “Bobby” and they became good friends. He attended church services there and Pastor Reynolds and his wife opened their home to him. Pastor Gary accepted the responsibility for arranging his burial in Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Kentucky on September 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Robert’s flag draped casket was placed in the rotunda and Pastor Reynolds delivered the eulogy. The United States Marine Corps military honor guard held the flag over the casket while taps was played. The flag was folded with precision, dignity and respect. Kathy and Rick from University Hospital Decedent Affairs Office and several members of Main Street Baptist Church were there to pay final tribute to Robert. Alliance Funeral Home and Cremation Center would like to recognize Flowerama of Florence for participating in making the patriotic floral arrangement with the ribbons Semper Fi and Our Brother, the United States Marine Corps military honor guard and Concord Custom Cleaners, Weaver Road and US Highway 42, for pressing the flag.
