Jerry Wayne "Snake" Scudder, 75, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Florence, Kentucky, on February 9, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends, who will forever remember his friendly spirit, wise counsel, and interesting stories that brought life to any gathering.
Born into a large and lively family, Jerry was known for his deep bonds with his siblings, Barb Fugate (Clyde Roark), Kathy Thomas, Sandy Hill (Andy), PJ Scudder, and John "Rusty" Mahorney (Tonya). Though he was predeceased by his brother Donnie Scudder, and sisters Joyce Rider and Jenny Relyea, the memories they shared will continue to be cherished by all who knew them.
A man of many interests, Jerry was an avid attendee of flea markets and yard sales, a testament to his curious and adventurous nature. He could often be found at the water's edge, fishing rod in hand, enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors. His dedication to community was evident through his active membership in both the American Legion Post 4 and the Florence Elks.
For 25 years, Jerry was a proud member of the traveling softball team, the Red’s Astros, where he demonstrated his passion for sports and teamwork. A true Kentucky soul, he was a fervent supporter of the University of Kentucky, never missing a chance to cheer on his beloved Wildcats. Jerry's love for sports extended to the Cincinnati Bengals and afternoons spent watching Westerns, which were among his favorite pastimes.
Coors Light was his drink of choice, a simple pleasure that he enjoyed in the company of friends and family. Jerry was also recognized as a Kentucky Colonel, an honorable distinction that speaks to his commitment to the betterment of his community.
Those who knew Jerry will fondly recall his friendly nature; he was the kind of person who never met a stranger. A friend to all and a stranger to none, Jerry's legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering zest for life.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his stories, laughter, and the warmth of his presence will remain with us forever. We take comfort in knowing that Jerry's legacy will live on in the cherished memories of his family and friends.
