Sue Ellen Massey

Sue Ellen Massey, also known as Mimi, passed away peacefully at 9:15pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the age of 61 in Edgewood, KY surrounded by family. She came into this world July 26, 1962, in Portsmouth, VA, to Linda and Robert Plaskett. She was blessed with 3 sisters, Sherry (Plaskett) Maynard, Donna Lee Plaskett, and Bobbi Jo (Plaskett) Ward.

Sue was a loving caring individual who had an infectious laugh and a positive outlook on life. She made friends effortlessly and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. As a mother, Sue always looked out for her children and set an amazing example for them. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing and laughing with them. Sue was a devoted wife to her late husband, Albert Wallace Massey, their love remained strong until the end, and we find solace in knowing that they are now reunited in heaven.

Sue was a homemaker in her early married years and worked as a shipping clerk at Johnson Controls and DHL. She enjoyed taking care of herself, with a particular interest in hair and nails. She also loved shopping, traveling, playing Yahtzee with her kids, and going on walks, adventures, and drives to see the beautiful countryside.

She attended Burlington Elementary for her primary education and later graduated from Conner High School. Sue furthered her education at Beckfield College.

She was a previous member of FBT and attended services at 7Hills (when her health would allow). Her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her.

Sue Ellen Massey is survived by her daughters and Son-in-laws Sara & Brad Smith, Jennifer & Drew VonHandorf, her parents- Linda and Robert Plaskett, her siblings Bobbi & Ed Ward, Sherry & Keith Maynard, and her Grandchildren Charlee Re’lynn, Jamison Elle, Albert Louis, Joley Jean, and Renee Christine. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Wallace Massey, her sister Donna Lee Plaskett, her uncle Donnie Plaskett, her grandparents Leona & John McCormick, Leona & Gurdon Plaskett,

A Celebration of Life for Sue Ellen Massey will be on May 4, 2024, at 12pm at Petersburg Community Center in Petersburg, Kentucky. If you wish to express your sympathy and support, bringing flowers to the graveside funeral would be a touching gesture during this difficult time." The service will be followed by a graveside burial where she will be placed by the love of her life for her final rest in Petersburg Cemetery.
