Thomas Joseph Powers, Jr, 61, Florence died Sunday January 25, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Florence. He worked as a carpenter for Hemmer Construction. Thomas is predeceased by his father Thomas J. Powers and brother Terry Powers. Survivors include his mother Marilyn Ann (Jansen) Powers, Florence, children Traci and Bryan Powers, Centerville, OH, sisters Maria Coppage, Independence and Suzy (Randy) O’Hara, Florence, brothers Michael and Mark Powers, Florence and John (Deborah) Powers Independence and grandchildren Zoey, Aiden, Tyler, Trevor and Tanner Powers. Thomas was a member of the Moonlight Hunting and Fishing Club, Kentucky League of Sportsmen, avid UK fan, and loved to fish and shoot trap. He was a charter member of the SAL Squadron 4 Boone Post and served as commander for many years. Upon his request, his body was willed to the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Thomas’s life will be held at St Paul’s Church, Florence on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at 12:10 PM. American Legion Post 4 is hosting a Gathering of Friends immediately following the mass from 1:00-4:00 PM. Online condolences may be expressed at alliancefuneralhome.net.
